  1. Fear is absolutely positive. Fear of getting burned by touching a hot oven, fear of getting hit by a car (we don’t walk on freeways), i.e. physical harm. Fear was developed to keep us alive. Fear of being eaten by an animal for example created the flight response: fight or flight.

On the flip side, fear can get in our way. If we “make up” fear based thoughts and don’t move forward with pursuing what we want in life, fear is then has a negative impact. For example, the fear of being hurt by loving someone and them not loving us back. That could cause someone to not move forward with a relationship; because of the fear of getting hurt emotionally.

So we have to ask ourselves, what is the basis of the fear; Self created or actual. What I mean is will the rejection of someone not returning your feelings kill you? The answer is no unless you react to that fear negatively. The fear of being hit by a car for example is actual. Yes you will be hurt.

Thanks Julaina! This is a great topic to discuss!

    1. Kimberly, thank you so much for your comments. I’m happy the topic was food for thought as it was for me. Sage’s experience with the sea lion brought up fear since it surprised her. She didn’t expect to be swimming near a sea lion and the shock made her think that he would eat her which I doubt sea lions would do. I got to thinking too, about creepy movies. They scare me but the fear is an illusion..something I should remind myself when I get in that space. 🙂 I miss seeing you.
