One of my projects for D’vorah Lansky’s thirty-day course creation challenge, is to write a simple fiction writing book for beginners that would serve as a manual for the course or a stand alone reference book. Today’s assignment is to title it. In my experience, it takes time to get a title right. I’m brainstorming, knowing it will change many times before publication.
Lansky advises us to choose a title “that is clear and talks about the benefits to the participant.”
Here are some ideas for my writing course:
Learn to Create and Publish Fiction
How to Write Fiction
Creative Writing For Beginners
Any suggestions for my temporary titles or ideas for others?
If you want to learn more about D’vorah Lansky’s programs,
Dunno, babe, those all sound kina bland and already used. Seems like you’ve gotta come up with something imaginative, something that’ll grab the browers’ eyes and peak their interest. Sheila Bender wrote a book on creative writing she called “Creative Writing Demystified.” That’s got spunk and mystery. I’m seriously brain-dead right now, but I’ll try over the next day or so to come up with some suggestions. In the meantime, maybe don you’re “let’s have fun” cap and see what comes up. Oh, just thought of another great title: Write is a Verb — it’s a book positing that in order to write, you have to WRITE. Ha! Good luck.
Thanks, Ladywinfred. How did Sheila put spunk and mystery in her book about writing??
Write is a Verb sounds familiar. I think I have it.
